This hankie has an all over embroidered design. Ornate flowers, scrolls, leaves and a bit of appenzell work cover the entire face of the handkerchief. Hankie has a teeny drawnwork edge around the scalloped hemline and measures about 10.5" square.

As is often the case with these hankies there is a bit of a silver overcast to it. The embroidery designs were originally stamped or drawn on the hankies then worked over. This shows through on the hankie. It has long been a tradition for brides to carry a pretty handkerchief on her wedding day ( for those tears of joy). This is truly a piece that can be handed down generation to generation. In Belgium the bridal hankies are framed and displayed in the house until the next use.
